Data Warehouse is the collection of data from heterogeneous source used for analytical reporting , data analysis. Data Warehouse are central repositories of integrated data from one or more disparate sources.Data Warehouse help client/customer/developer to get good high level understanding to implement a successful data warehouse project.

4.Non-volatile collection of data


A data warehouse is a copy of transaction data specifically structured for query and analysis.

In cognos 10.2 , IBM revised some features for the user for the flexibility , scalability of this reporting tool.Following are the some Features-




  1. To Integrate Cognos 10.2 with the existing IT infra structure on multiple platform , they added the feature of platfrom independent technology like XML,SOAP,WSDL.
  2. Cognos 10.2 have common dispatcher.
  3. Cognos 10.2 supports leading relational Databases.
  4. Cognos 10.2 supports OLAP and Dimensionally modeled relational cubes.
  5. Cognos 10.2 did not need any client installation required to perform day to day  report and server administration to the application.
  6. Cognos 10.2 supports leading RDBMS  for content Management i.e. DB2, Oracle and MSSQL.
  7. Cognos 10.2 supports multiple web server types i.e IIS, Apache
  8. Cognos 10.2 is open and Extensible.

COGNOS-INTRODUCTION

WHAT IS COGNOS ??

 Cognos is a reporting tool made by company named cognos in 1969.In 2007, Acquisition of Cognos is done  by IBM , So IBM Cognos is a basic ETL tool which is used to Generate reports ,which is helpful for the Big Companies to analysis their performance .IBM Cognos software can provide what your organization needs to become top-performing and analytics-driven.



In Cognos, their are some Basic Component to generate a report .


  1. Model or Framework Manager 
  2. Report Studio
  3. Query studio
  4. Analysis Studio 






  • In Cognos we use Model or Framework Manager to Map database which cosign can understand.Model stores the Metadata Information of the database. So we can say that Model stores database structure information.


  • Report studio is other component , it interact with the Model to create the reports.
Report Generated by this tool is used by end users.
